Why will the Galaxy S23 Ultra soon 'beat' the iPhone 14 Pro Max?

Samsung's next year's "super product" has everything it takes to "beat" the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is one of the most anticipated premium phones of 2023 and if the rumors are true then the device will launch in early February 2023. The product has to outperform other flagships like the Pixel 7 Pro and especially Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max.

This is how the Galaxy S23 Ultra can "beat" the iPhone 14 Pro Max when it launches next year

200MP "Beast" Camera

This year, the Galaxy S22 Ultra with Samsung's 108MP main camera is still at the top of the list of best camera phones. But what is more interesting is that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be upgraded with the main camera to 200MP resolution, which can take 200MP or 12.5MP photos through pixel binning.

Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a better rear camera than Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra will have Samsung's new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor, which is 1/1.3-inch in size and has an aperture of f/1.6, larger than the f/1.7 aperture of the previous version to capture more light.

According to Ice Universe, the new 200MP camera will take better low-light photos, helping Samsung surpass the iPhone's excellent Portrait Mode night mode.

Zoom is better than iPhone

Although the camera layout of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra will not be much different, Samsung's "super product" will beat the iPhone 14 Pro Max in terms of optical zoom. Apple's high-end iPhone models only offer 3x optical zoom and up to 15x digital zoom.

At the same time, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is once again equipped with a dual telephoto lens with 3x and 10x zoom capabilities.

Better design

Although the design of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is quite luxurious and high-end, it is still bulkier than its predecessor with a larger camera protrusion. Despite having a larger 6.8-inch screen, the current Galaxy S22 Ultra is lighter than the iPhone, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra is not expected to change much.

According to rumors, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will weigh only 6g than the previous generation. This is due to the wider metal frame.

Faster charging, bigger battery

The Galaxy S23 Ultra will offer 45W charging, which is significantly better than the iPhone 14 Pro Max's 20-30W charging.

This year, the Galaxy S22 Ultra can charge 67% in 30 minutes, much faster than the iPhone 14 Pro Max's 42% in the same time. So Samsung will still have the upper hand.

iPhone 14 Pro Max has longer battery life than Galaxy S22 Ultra (with 5,000 mAh battery) despite having a smaller battery (4,323 mAh). So if Samsung gets past the iPhone in time, it will get a performance boost and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip could help.

better graphics performance

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 benchmarks show that Samsung's high-end phone can outperform the iPhone 14 Pro Max in terms of graphics and gaming.

Devices running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip achieved a remarkably fast 84 fps on the 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited benchmark. This number is nearly 30 fps higher than the Galaxy S22 Ultra and "beats" the 74 fps rate of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In the unlimited test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip reached 22.4 fps, outperforming the iPhone 14 Pro Max (19.9 fps) and about 8 frames faster than the iPhone 14 Pro. Max and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

S Pen

The Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the second generation in a row that Samsung offers an S Pen stylus in the Galaxy S Ultra line of phones after the "death" of the Galaxy Note. Experts expect this accessory to reduce latency and improve handwriting recognition.

Galaxy S23 Ultra will continue to be equipped with an S Pen.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is at a disadvantage because it does not support the equivalent Apple Pencil stylus.

End

Based on current rumors, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a good chance of taking the title of best phone from Apple.

One of the areas where Samsung needs to excel is in photography. The Korean tech mogul needs to combine a new 200MP sensor with a photography algorithm to deliver eye-catching photos, "beating" the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Google Pixel 7 Pro.

We will continue to update more information about the Galaxy S23 series in the near future.
